Pakistan’s opener Saim Ayub delivered another stellar performance, scoring 101 off 94 balls to lead his team to a historic clean sweep against South Africa in the third ODI at Wanderers Stadium on Sunday. With his second century of the series, Ayub joined an elite group of international batters, including Virat Kohli, David Warner, Fakhar Zaman, and Joe Root, who have scored multiple ODI centuries on South African soil.
The match, reduced to 47 overs per side due to rain, saw Pakistan post a formidable 307/6. Ayub anchored the innings with key partnerships alongside Babar Azam (52) and Mohammad Rizwan (53), adding 114 runs for the second wicket and 93 for the third. His innings featured 13 boundaries, and two sixes before debutant Corbin Bosch dismissed him.
South Africa’s chase was spirited, with Heinrich Klaasen blasting 81 off 43 balls. However, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Sufiyan Muqeem’s 4/52, restricted the hosts to 271 in 42 overs, sealing a 36-run victory.
