Pakistani Activist Sammi Deen Baloch Receives International Award For Human Rights Activism

The esteemed Front Line Defenders Award 2024 was presented to Pakistani activist Sammi Deen Baloch in Dublin, Ireland. It was in recognition of her unwavering dedication to advocating for human rights in Pakistan.

Baloch, who hails from Balochistan’s Awaran and serves as the General Secretary of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), was selected from Asia and the Pacific as one of five recipients of the prestigious award.

Front Line Defenders, an organization committed to recognizing and supporting the efforts of human rights defenders, bestowed the award upon Baloch and four other outstanding individuals at a special ceremony in Dublin.

The annual award serves to honor the exceptional contributions of human rights defenders. People who demonstrate remarkable courage in safeguarding and promoting the rights of others and putting their selves at personal risk.

In response to being honored with the award, Baloch expressed her gratitude. She further stressed the significance of continuing her advocacy for human rights and the safe release of all missing persons, including her father.
