A Saudi Arabian man has been arrested after a deadly car-ramming incident at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday. The tragic event claimed the lives of two individuals, including a young child, and left 68 others injured.

Authorities reported that the suspect, a 50-year-old medical doctor from Saudi Arabia, has been living in Germany since 2006. The attack occurred when an SUV plowed through a crowd of holiday revelers at high speed, causing chaos and widespread injuries.

Regional Premier Reiner Haseloff described the incident as a “catastrophe” for Magdeburg and Germany. Speaking from the scene, which remained cordoned off and heavily guarded by police, Haseloff confirmed the suspect’s arrest and expressed deep condolences to the victims and their families.
