Source: Khaleej Times

A tragic house fire caused by a mobile phone charger claimed the lives of seven family members in Hofuf, Al-Ahsa governorate, Saudi Arabia.

The victims included six siblings and their nephew, who tragically suffocated due to toxic smoke inhalation. The deceased were identified as Laila Hussein Al-Jibran, Iman Hussein, Latifa Hussein, Ahmed Hussein, Reda Hussein, Abdul-Ilah Hussein, and their nephew Hussein Ali Al-Jibran.

Reports indicate that the fire began when a mobile charger overheated on a sofa, igniting nearby furniture. The flames quickly spread to the ceiling and engulfed the home. Latifa Hussein, one of the victims, had recently celebrated her marriage contract and was awaiting her wedding.

Sadiq Al-Jibran, the victims’ uncle, explained that the fire’s rapid spread left little time to act. Although some family members attempted to control the fire and help others escape, thick smoke filled the house, leading to suffocation.
