Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife, Ansha Afridi, are expecting their first child. National team head coach Jason Gillespie confirmed the news on Friday. Reportedly, the 24-year-old bowler will likely miss the home test series against Bangladesh to be with his wife.
Gillespie stated, “If he [Shaheen Afridi] wants to stay with his wife, we can bench him for the series.”
Shaheen and Ansha tied the knot in a private ceremony in Karachi on February 3 last year. They celebrated their grand rukhsati (seeing off) ceremony on September 19, 2023, followed by a valima on September 21.

Notably, Ansha is the daughter of iconic Pakistani player Shahid Afridi. The couple were engaged for two years before their marriage. Shaheen’s potential absence from the series shows his commitment to the family during this significant moment.
