In recent news, Islamabad police have taken decisive action by filing charges against former Pakistani cricket captain Shahid Afridi and 10 others. The development came in connection with an alleged fraud case involving a housing project in the Capital. The case has been initiated at Rawat Police Station and stems from a complaint lodged by Abid bin Abdul Qudoos.

Contents of the complaint…

According to the complainant, the property consultant Sheikh Fawad and his associates, leveraging Shahid Afridi’s endorsement, persuaded Abid Bin Qudoos to invest in the AAA Business Centre housing project. Entranced by Afridi’s association with the project’s promotion, the victim reserved two shops in the AAA Business Centre, committing a significant sum of Rs.55 lac for one shop and Rs.40 lac for another.

However, subsequent investigations revealed a pattern of deceit with numerous individuals including the complainant, falling victim to the suspects’ fraudulent activities. Abid further unearthed discrepancies in the provided stamp papers which were found to be backdated and in the rental agreement, similarly bearing dates from the past.

Additionally, Abid alleged that Sheikh Fawad’s signature on certain agreements was forged and accused the suspects of double-allocating the same shop to multiple customers. Speaking to a local news outlet, Abid shared, “Shahid Afridi is not nominated as a culprit in the FIR lodged and his name shall not be included in the challan. Being the brand ambassador of AAA Associates his name was just mentioned in the application.”
