The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively considering several candidates for the vacant head coach position for the men’s national team, with veteran cricketers Shane Watson and Darren Sammy emerging as leading contenders.

Pakistan’s head coach position has been vacant since Mohammad Hafeez’s temporary appointment for tours in December and January with the PCB now looking for a permanent solution ahead of their upcoming series against New Zealand in April.

Shane Watson, currently coaching Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has impressed with his leadership, guiding the team to their first playoffs in the last five seasons. Darren Sammy, known for his successful stint as the captain of Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2017 is also under consideration for the role.
