The owner of the franchise Mizanur Rahman took to a video message to refute the speculations, categorically denying any involvement of Malik in any match-fixing activities.

Accusations against Shoaib Malik
Earlier this week, news of Shoaib Malik being accused of match-fixing during a Bangladesh Premier League match in Dhaka started circulating on social media. As per the reports, Malik got highlighted by the screeners after delivering three consecutive no-balls while playing against the Khulna Riders.
It was further believed that Malik’s out-of-the-line bowling gave the other team unnecessary runs which cost Fortune Barishal that match.
Soon social media was filled with unsettling news began to emerge that Shoaib Malik’s contract with Fortune Barishal for the remaining Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches was abruptly terminated, fueled by suspicions of match-fixing involvement. However, Malik, who recently left Bangladesh for Dubai, extended his stay until February 5 for personal reasons, deviating from his initial return schedule.
The franchise, citing the prolonged absence as a basis, decided to sever ties with the seasoned all-rounder. The sudden development raises questions and adds an unexpected twist to the BPL narrative, leaving fans and cricket enthusiasts intrigued about the circumstances surrounding Malik’s departure from Fortune Barishal due to personal reasons.
