A non-Muslim shopkeeper, Johnson Tariq, was recognized and honored for his courageous act of protecting a woman from an angry mob during the Ichchra Bazaar incident. The incident took place on 25 Feb but Tariq’s bravery and fast thinking still resonates among the community.

Protecting others is the bravest act of all

Details reveal that Johnson Tariq shielded the woman in his shop who was accused of blasphemy by an angry mob while the salesmen formed a human chain to calm the mob and prevent them from breaking in. He protected the woman for the longest time possible until law enforcement arrived at the location.

During that period, the mob gathered outside Tariq’s shop, demanding that he hand over the woman to them. However, Tariq refused to comply with their demands and instead tried to calm the situation down.

Fortunately, his act of bravery did not go unnoticed and he was given recognition at the Pakistan Day Parade earlier today. The parade was attended by thousands of people, including government officials, military personnel, celebrities and the general public.
