In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 14, the government has introduced stringent measures in the federal capital, Islamabad. A notable development is the imposition of a ban on the simultaneous display of the national flag and political party flags.
Keeping ‘independence day’ apolitical
Furthermore, the government has extended the ban to include the placement of political party flags alongside national flags at sale points throughout Islamabad. In a bid to curb noise pollution during the celebrations, the sale of vuvuzelas, popular noisy toys, has been prohibited as well.
The Islamabad police department has been entrusted with the task of overseeing the enforcement of these regulations and has been directed to closely monitor their respective jurisdictions.
