Six Supreme Court judges chose not to attend a farewell event, or full court reference, held for outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa. Traditionally, this event is attended by all Supreme Court justices to honor the departing CJP. However, Justices Mansoor Ali Shah, Munib Akhtar, Ayesha Malik, Shahid Waheed, Athar Minallah, and Malik Shehzad were notably absent.
Chief Justice Isa, who retires today after serving for over a year, was honored at a farewell dinner hosted by the Supreme Court Bar Association and Pakistan Bar Council the night before. The event was attended by nominated Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, several Supreme Court judges, and the Chief Justices of all high courts.
