The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has restored access to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, across the country, according to a statement given to the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday.

PTA’s lawyer, Ahsan Imam, informed the court that the authority had officially withdrawn its notification suspending the platform’s services in Pakistan.

The response from PTA came after the SHC sought clarification regarding the ban on X in the country. Following this submission, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.

Earlier in the year, on April 17, the Sindh High Court had directed the Ministry of Interior to revoke its letter concerning the suspension of X (formerly Twitter) within one week. The platform had originally been banned in February 2024, following the general elections.

The restoration of X has been welcomed by users, while legal proceedings continue. The court is expected to further address the case in its next session.
