Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Allama Tahir Ashrafi, has made revelations regarding the involvement of former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa in the Russia visit of the then Prime Minister.
The ‘unknown’ revelations
In a recent interview, Ashrafi stated that General (retired) Qamar Bajwa was on board with the decision made by the former prime minister to embark on the Russia trip. He further commented that the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had several opportunities to bring about improvements, but was hindered by a lack of trust.
Ashrafi further claimed that a close associate of the former prime minister attempted to mediate the situation, but withdrew based on an assurance involving the PTI leader’s guarantee. The religious scholar described the PTI leader as being led by a somewhat impatient individual who made errors, with the remaining matters being handled by the party’s Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
