Source: News24

Authorities in Pakistan have arrested several teenagers for distributing pamphlets advocating for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The arrests have sparked outrage after former President Arif Alvi shared footage on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the incident.

An image widely circulated on social media shows one of the detained teens in chains, smiling and flashing a victory sign, which has become a symbol of defiance against the government’s actions. Critics have labeled the move as an example of escalating suppression of dissent.

Former President Alvi strongly criticized the arrests, calling them an example of “fascism at its peak.” In his tweet, Alvi wrote, “The world should see what fascist dictators do to a free country. But please do invest in Pakistan, as these scoundrels are about to be ousted.”

The incident has raised questions about the government’s handling of political opposition and its impact on freedom of expression in the country. As the controversy unfolds, the government has yet to respond to the accusations of using heavy-handed tactics against peaceful demonstrators, including minors.
