President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to end birthright citizenship and issue pardons for individuals convicted in the 2021 US Capitol riots. Speaking during an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump outlined his agenda for his first day back in office, emphasizing sweeping executive orders on immigration, energy, and economic policy.
Trump called for ending the constitutional guarantee of automatic citizenship for anyone born in the US, calling it “ridiculous.” Birthright citizenship is protected under the 14th Amendment, and legal experts suggest his proposal would face significant legal and constitutional challenges.
Addressing the Capitol rioters, Trump said, “I’m going to be acting very quickly,” promising to review cases individually while criticizing their current detention conditions.
The president-elect also reiterated his plan for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, including families with US-born children, and hinted at cooperation with Democrats on measures for “Dreamers” under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

In foreign policy, Trump suggested cutting aid to Ukraine and reassessing US commitments to NATO, contingent on fair contributions from member nations.
Trump’s remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with critics arguing his proposals could intensify political divisions and legal battles in the US. His agenda, if enacted, would mark a dramatic shift in policy direction.
