The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has entrusted the maintenance and operations of its Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant to an Indian company. This move was announced during Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to New Delhi.
During his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both nations signed five agreements to boost energy cooperation, including one focused on nuclear energy. A key agreement between the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited ensures that Indian experts will manage the operation and maintenance of the Barakah plant.
This collaboration is expected to enhance the safety and efficiency of the plant, benefiting from India’s expertise in nuclear power. Other agreements signed between the two countries cover areas like long-term LNG supply, oil production, and food park development in India.
