The US Embassy in Pakistan has announced a major reduction in visa appointment wait times, cutting the delay from 440 days to 230 days. This change aims to improve efficiency in processing various types of visas, including student, business, and family reunion visas.
A spokesperson for the embassy stated that they are committed to handling the increased demand and facilitating more applicants. Previously, the embassies in Islamabad and Karachi processed around 10,000 applications per month, and the new measures are expected to significantly boost this capacity.
For those who have already applied, the embassy has introduced an email review system to assess cases individually. Decisions are typically made within three to four working days after the interview. The embassy charges only the standard application fee, which is consistent with global US visa charges.
