Karachi police have arrested a woman, Shahnaz, from Lyari for allegedly stealing 20 tola of gold from her neighbor’s house in the Baghdadi area on October 27. The gold was sold to fund her pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
According to the authorities, the case unraveled when Shahnaz’s husband, Imran, revealed her involvement during police interrogation. Initially detained for questioning, Imran disclosed that his wife had stolen the valuables. Shahnaz sold 17 tons of the gold and used the proceeds for personal expenses before traveling to Umrah.
After completing her pilgrimage, Shahnaz returned to Karachi, where the police apprehended her. Officials recovered 3 tola of the stolen gold and Rs1,500,00 in cash from her possession.
