In a surprising turn of events, Zaka Ashraf resigned from his position as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee on Friday. The decision also extended to stepping down as a member of the Board of Governors (BoG). Sources indicated that Ashraf’s resignation was prompted by his inability to wield authority from the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
IPC halts Zaka Ashraf
The IPC’s intervention became evident earlier in the week when it halted the management committee’s meeting in Karachi, explicitly instructing Ashraf not to proceed with any decisions. Despite Ashraf’s intention to align his decisions with the BoG and upcoming elections, the IPC’s interference appears to have thwarted his plans.
Notably, the IPC had previously barred Ashraf from overseeing the T-10 league, adding to the strain between the cricket administrator and the regulatory body.
