Jamaica has joined 141 other UN Member States in recognizing Palestine’s statehood due to concerns over the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the difficult circumstances faced by its inhabitants, particularly women and children.
Minister Johnson Smith has reiterated that Jamaica fully supports all efforts for de-escalation and the establishment of lasting peace in the region. This move signifies Jamaica’s stance against the inhumane conditions that Palestinians are currently enduring. The Minister also emphasized the urgency for a permanent ceasefire and the immediate release of hostages.
