Jamaica Officially Recognizes Palestine As An Independent State

Jamaica recently made a bold move by officially recognizing the State of Palestine. This decision was made in response to escalating tensions between Israel and Gaza. The Foreign Minister of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson Smith, emphasized the nation’s commitment to peaceful resolutions through diplomatic dialogue, denouncing military actions as a solution.

Jamaica has joined 141 other UN Member States in recognizing Palestine’s statehood due to concerns over the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the difficult circumstances faced by its inhabitants, particularly women and children.

Minister Johnson Smith has reiterated that Jamaica fully supports all efforts for de-escalation and the establishment of lasting peace in the region.
