Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has been appointed as the sports ambassador by the Dubai Sports Council, the organization responsible for promoting sports development in Dubai. The announcement was made on Wednesday, and the 37-year-old athlete took to Instagram to share the news with her fans.
“Honoured and grateful to be a sports ambassador for Dubai! Thank you for this incredible opportunity Dubai Sports Council,” Sania wrote, expressing her excitement and gratitude.
Founded in 2005, the Dubai Sports Council oversees the activities of Dubai’s local sports clubs and promotes physical activity, particularly among women and children, across the United Arab Emirates. The council aims to encourage a more active lifestyle within society, making Mirza an ideal ambassador given her inspiring journey in sports.
