Arshad Nadeem Awarded Rs.153 Million In Total, Celebrated As National Hero After Olympic Win

Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, who made history by winning Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years, has been awarded a combined cash prize of Rs153 million by the Punjab and Sindh governments. At the Paris Olympics, the 27-year-old athlete secured gold with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters, surpassing the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters set in 2008.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised Nadeem as a national hero, awarding him Rs100 million and announcing the construction of a sports city in his hometown, Mian Channu, named in his honor. She also gifted Nadeem a brand-new car with a custom number plate reading ‘PAK-92.97.’

In addition, Salman Butt, who played a crucial role in supporting Nadeem’s journey to Olympic glory, was honored with a Rs50 lakh cheque from the Punjab Chief Minister.

Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Menk also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nadeem for his outstanding achievement.
