Pakistan’s javelin star, Arshad Nadeem, has expressed a heartfelt desire to unite the nation like a “bundle of wood” if given the opportunity to serve as Prime Minister for a day. During an interview with journalist Waseem Badami, the 27-year-old athlete shared his vision for a united Pakistan, emphasizing the strength that comes from unity.

“I want the entire Pakistani nation to become united,” Arshad said, illustrating his point by explaining how a bundle of wood is unbreakable, unlike individual sticks that can easily be snapped.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Arshad recounted a gift from his father-in-law—a buffalo—after his historic Olympic victory. He joked about asking for a piece of land instead, reflecting his humble and down-to-earth nature.

Arshad made history on August 8 by throwing a javelin 92.97 meters at the Paris Olympics 2024, ending Pakistan’s 40-year wait for an individual gold medal at the Summer Games. In recognition of his achievement, President Asif Ali Zardari will bestow the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the country’s second-highest civilian award, on the national hero.
