Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Defence, Shehrbano Naqvi, has addressed the recent rumors of a female student’s alleged rape at Punjab College, Lahore, calling the claims “misinformation.” The rumors, which circulated on social media, sparked protests that quickly escalated, resulting in clashes between students and police.

In a video statement on Monday, ASP Naqvi appeared alongside the alleged victim’s family, dismissing the claims as “propaganda.” She confirmed that police found no medical records of a rape victim in either government or private hospitals. Additionally, the private hospital named in the rumors does not handle medico-legal cases, further discrediting the claims.

“We checked all the floors of the hospital and found no evidence of the alleged victim’s visit,” ASP Naqvi stated, urging students to refrain from spreading false information.

The incident allegedly occurred a week earlier, with reports claiming that a security guard assaulted a first-year student in the basement of Punjab College’s Campus 10. Despite the viral reports, the victim’s family did not file an official complaint.

Following the protests, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran confirmed the arrest of the security guard, who denied the allegations. Kamran also reported no evidence was found in CCTV footage, and hospital records did not match the claims.

The police encouraged anyone with credible information to come forward, reiterating that no substantial evidence has been found to support the allegations.
