Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, currently in Pakistan for a two-match Test series, has been named in a murder case in Dhaka. The case was filed by Rafique Islam, the father of the deceased, Robail Islam, who was killed during a protest rally on August 15 when shots were fired.

Shakib, who is also a Member of Parliament for the Awami League, the former ruling party, is among several individuals named in the case. Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 154 others have also been accused.

Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister on August 5 and fled to India following student protests against changes to the quota system. The case against Shakib has raised questions due to his political involvement with the Awami League.

Shakib was elected as a Member of Parliament on the Awami League ticket earlier this year. The situation is developing, and it is unclear how this will affect his participation in the ongoing Test series in Pakistan or his political career.
