Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of TikTok, is a dedicated parent with an interesting perspective on his own platform. With two kids aged eight and six, he recognizes the potential pitfalls of social media for children. Chew firmly believes that his children are too young for TikTok, emphasizing the need for supervision for kids below their teenage years while using the app.

Chew’s ‘own personal beliefs’

Shou Zi Chew points out that it’s not just a personal belief, but a legal requirement that children under 13 years old should be using a different app. He acknowledges that while he could potentially relax this restriction to allow his own kids access, he chooses not to.

During the interview, the Singaporean entrepreneur highlighted the existing age restrictions for TikTok sign-ups. He mentioned that these restrictions are particularly stringent in the US compared to other countries.
