Caretaker CM Punjab Inaugurates Country’s Biggest Biogas Plant In Lahore

Last weekend, Pakistan’s largest biogas plant was inaugurated in Lahore’s Gujjar Colony area. It was revealed that the compressed biogas plant can produce 600 cubic meters of gas per day and will use up to 1,600 kg of manure daily to produce 16,000 kg of organic fertilizer.

Talking to the media after inaugurating the plant, acting Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the manure visible on the roads would be removed and organic fertilizer would be made from it. Provincial Executive Minister Bilal Afzal, Minister for Power and Information, Lahore Commissioner, CCPO, Deputy Commissioner, and other officials were present at the ceremony.

CM Punjab further stated that a project should also be started to expand the plant as it would benefit the local people. Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and farmers will also be able to use organic fertilizers produced by the plant.

The project is named Rustam Zaman by CM Punjab meaning “The Great Gamma Transition” and stated that this is the best way to pay tribute to World Champion Gamma Pehelwan.

Details reveal that the Level 1 underpass is said to be 700 meters long and runs from Barkat Market to Canal Road. The Level 2 underpass is 1.4 km long and runs from Jinnah Hospital to Barkat Market. A U-turn will be constructed at Bhekewal More and another at Canal Road.
