Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has requested Elon Musk to activate Starlink satellite internet in Pakistan. The appeal comes as internet services in major cities, including Islamabad, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, face widespread disruptions ahead of PTI’s planned protest on November 24.
PTI’s protest, described as a “do-or-die” call for democracy, aims to highlight issues such as human rights violations, election rigging, and the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The party accused the government of using internet shutdowns to silence dissent and prevent protest coverage.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PTI wrote, “Millions of Pakistanis are marching for democracy and human rights. Pakistan needs Starlink to ensure their voices are heard.” The party criticized the government for blocking internet access and accused it of suppressing peaceful protests through force.

The protest coincides with heightened security in Islamabad, where authorities have enforced Section 144 and deployed large numbers of police, Rangers, and Frontier Constabulary personnel. The government has cited security concerns for the shutdowns.
Despite these challenges, PTI remains committed to its protest, calling it a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s fight for democracy.
