FIA Arrests Suspect Involved In “Digital Fuel Theft” From Lahore

Modern problems require modern solutions – In this digital era, online scams and luring people into fraudulent schemes have become a normal thing but it just doesn’t stop here. Recently, the authorities apprehended a man who was said to be stealing fuel digitally through a microchip.

Stealing petrol through digital means

According to the official media reports, the Cyber Crime Wing (CCW) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a ‘digital fuel thief’ from Lahore, Pakistan. Details reveal that the suspect had attached a small chip to a petrol dispensing machine through which he was able to steal 200 to 300 millimeters of petrol with each liter.

Reportedly, the suspect who identifies as Amjad Khan would control the flow of the said petrol dispensing machine via the discreet chip. It was further stated that the attached chip would automatically switch on whenever the petrol was being poured into any vehicle.

A small chip creating a huge mess

Every time, the suspect would take control of the petrol machine using a remote control. Currently, Amjad Khan is in the custody of FIA and would be charged with heavy fines and jail time for his criminal activities. The FIA has also confiscated his mobile phone, the small chip and the remote control.

While the recent Rs.35 hike in petrol price has created panic nationwide, such activities are just adding to the troubles of the common man.

The current price of petrol in Pakistan has reached Rs.250 per liter. Sigh!
