Former Cricketer Shahid Afridi Strongly Denies Endorsing ‘Pro-Israel’ Movement In UK

Pakistani cricket legend Shahid Afridi has refuted claims of supporting any Zionist movement. This comes after a picture surfaced online showing him with members of Friends of Israel (FOI), an organization advocating for Israel.

The photo, posted on Wednesday, depicts Afridi alongside two men in Manchester, one holding a flyer concerning Israeli hostages allegedly held captive by Hamas. The flyer prominently displays the hashtag #BringThemHome, a campaign for their release.

FOI claimed Afridi met with their co-chair and deputy chair and expressed his backing for their cause. However, Afridi reacted with surprise on X (formerly Twitter), urging people to be cautious about online information.

“Imagine being approached for a selfie by fans on the street. Only to have it used as a political endorsement moments later”, wrote Afridi.
