Former US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that there are “big threats” to his life from Iran, following warnings from US intelligence about “real and specific” threats.

Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform, saying, “The entire US Military is watching and waiting”, while adding that past moves by Iran “didn’t work out”, but they “will try again”.

Trump’s campaign team confirmed that US intelligence had briefed him earlier in the day about serious threats from Tehran.

Campaign communications director Steven Cheung said intelligence officials have noticed an increase in coordinated threats over the past few months, and law enforcement agencies are actively working to ensure Trump’s safety.

It remains unclear whether these threats are newly identified or related to earlier concerns. Trump highlighted the increased security surrounding him, noting, “I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before”. The Secret Service has faced scrutiny following two attempts on Trump’s life earlier this year.
