In the drop scene of the Toshakhana case, the federal government made the 466 pages of records public on the Cabinet Division’s website last Sunday. The records are from 2002 to 2023 pertaining to the details of luxury items acquired by former government officials including the Presidents and Prime Ministers.
Details of politicians who kept gifts from Toshakhana
The long list includes several big names including, the Sharif brothers, Maryam Nawaz, Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Pervez Musharraf and Imran Khan. The details are as follows:
Nawaz Sharif
Back in 2008, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acquired a Mercedes Benz for just PKR 6,36,000 whose actual worth was PKR 4,25,5000. Other than that he also took possession of a luxury glass set and a carpet for which he paid PKR 43,000 and PKR 6,000 respectively.
As per the records, Nawaz Sharif also took a set of cufflinks along with a watch worth PKR 12,00,000 and paid only PKR 2,40,000 in total. A vase was also acquired by him whose actual price was PKR 8,000 but he didn’t pay a single penny for it.
Asif Ali Zardari
A Jovani watch, a BMW and a Lexus were acquired by the former President worth PKR 5,40,000, PKR 5,078,000 and PKR 5,000,000 accordingly. Whereas Zardari paid PKR 79,005 for the watch and PKR 16,100,000 for both vehicles.
In 2009, he also took a BMW from Toshakhana whose cost was PKR 27,300,000 at that time but he paid only PKR 4,100,000 for it. Plus, he also took an expensive vase without paying any amount for it.
Shehbaz Sharif
The current Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif acquired a cow model worth PKR 8,000, a decanter (PKR 25,000), a wall hanging (PKR 17,000), a dagger (PKR 50,000), a booklet (PKR 10,000), stadium model (PKR 15,000), onyx plate (PKR 2,200), horse metal sculpture (PKR 28,000), chocolate and honey (PKR 12,000), jar (PKR 10,000), Uzbek products including books (PKR 33,000) and painting (PKR 28,000) for free.
Moreover, he also kept a ceramic bowl (PKR 20,000), a painting with a frame (PKR 12,000), a vase (PKR 22,000), an Orange Train model (PKR 10,000), a souvenir (PKR 8,000), honey (PKR 1,000), herbal tea (PKR 3,000), jam (PKR 6,000), three footballs (PKR 15,000), decanter (PKR 22,000), Arabian coffee container (PKR 26,000), Arabian coffee (PKR 26,000), bowl set (PKR 10,000), carpet (Rs30,000) and didn’t pay a single penny for the above-mentioned items.
According to the Toshakhana records, Shehbaz Sharif paid PKR 1,85,000 for a vase whose market value was PKR 4,00,000 at that time. Plus, he also bought a decoration piece for PKR 5,000 whose actual value was PKR 35,000 back in 2013.

Imran Khan
Toshakhana records show for Prime Minister Imran Khan purchased a Rolex, a pair of cufflinks, a pen and a ring valued at PKR.8.5 crores in total whereas, he paid PKR 2 crores for all. He then took another Rolex whose market value was PKR 1.5 million but paid only PKR 2,94,000 for it.
Other gifts acquired by Khan include one more Rolex whose actual price was PKR 9,00,000, a ladies’ watch (PKR 4,00,000), an iPhone (PKR 2,10,000), two gents suits (PKR 30,000), a wallet (PKR 6,000), a ladies purse (PKR 18,000), one pen (PKR 28,000) and four perfumes with a market value of PKR, 35,000, PKR 30,000, PKR 26,000 and PKR 40,000 respectively.
He also retained a wooden oud box and two perfumes without paying any money. While the actual value of the mentioned items was estimated to be PKR 5,00,000.
Bilawal Bhutto
The current Foreign Minister retained a vase worth PKR 6,500 from the exchequer for free.
Maryam Nawaz
PMLN’s senior leader Maryam Nawaz took a pineapple box without paying anything for it.
Ishaq Dar
Pakistan’s finance minister paid PKR 1,000 for bedsheets worth PKR 15,000.
Marriyum Aurangzeb
Marriyum Aurangzeb’s mother acquired two watches worth PKR 115,000 and paid only PKR 30,000 for both.
This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that the Toshakhna records are made public. The records related to government officials have caused controversy and raised questions about the ethics of accepting gifts and discounts from Toshakhana.
