In a groundbreaking development for the Indian education sector, a school in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has ushered in a new era by introducing an AI teacher named ‘Iris’. Developed by Maker Labs, Iris represents a significant leap forward in educational technology, leveraging generative AI to redefine the learning landscape.

What can Iris do?

Iris isn’t just another static AI interface; it’s a dynamic presence in the classroom, capable of movement, interaction, and responding to students’ queries. Remarkably, the students’ response has been overwhelmingly positive with zero absenteeism recorded in classes conducted by the AI teacher.

Covering subjects from nursery to Class 12, Iris breaks linguistic barriers by fluently conversing in three languages: English, Hindi, and Malayalam. Moreover, plans are underway to expand its linguistic capabilities to over 20 languages, enhancing accessibility for diverse student populations across the country.
