India clinched the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, ending a 13-year wait, with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The match, held on Saturday, was a nail-biter that saw momentum swing back and forth until the final moments.

Chasing a target of 177, South Africa appeared to be in a strong position, needing 71 runs off 45 balls with six wickets in hand. Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen were leading the chase, and it seemed like the Proteas were on their way to securing their maiden world title. However, India’s bowling attack had other plans.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya turned the game around by dismissing Klaasen in his first over. He then removed the dangerous David Miller, thanks to a spectacular catch by Suryakumar Yadav on the long-off boundary. Jasprit Bumrah, renowned for his ability to break crucial partnerships, bowled an in-swinging delivery that dismissed Marco Jansen, opening the gates for India.
