Earlier this week, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) unveiled a concerning revelation from a report by a district and sessions judge.

What the report entails…

The report revolved around the inspection of Attock jail, shedding light on a privacy breach involving a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera positioned directly in front of the cell belonging to former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The report, generated after a fortnightly jail inspection on August 15, exposed the unsettling fact that the CCTV camera was strategically placed, leaving no space for the privacy of the ex-premier and current PTI chairman. Imran Khan had been confined to Attock jail since August 5, subsequent to his conviction in the Toshakhana (gift repository) case.

The emergence of this report raises concerns about the protection of privacy for high-profile individuals during their incarceration, highlighting the need for a balanced approach that respects both security protocols and fundamental rights.
