Israeli Media Blog Suggests Imran Khan Could Pave The Way For Pakistan-Israel Normalisation

In a significant development, the Times of Israel blog has suggested that Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is well-positioned to normalise diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Israel.

The blog cites his approach to foreign policy and his personal connections to pro-Israel figures, notably his former in-laws, the Goldsmith family. Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, and her brother Zac Goldsmith, a prominent figure in Jewish and pro-Israel circles, are said to have influenced his outlook on Israel.

Historically, Pakistan has been steadfast in its pro-Palestinian stance, refusing to engage with Israel due to its commitment to the global Muslim community and the unresolved Palestinian issue. Imran Khan upheld this stance during his time as Prime Minister, condemning Israel’s actions and rejecting the possibility of diplomatic ties.

However, the blog claims that informal messages, potentially conveyed through the Goldsmith family, have been sent to Israeli officials, indicating possible movement towards normalisation. The blog suggests that Imran Khan’s pragmatic foreign policy and unique family connections could make him a key figure in reshaping Pakistan-Israel relations.

Political analysts have noted efforts by Zionist lobbies to support Khan’s return to politics, seeing his leadership as crucial for any diplomatic breakthrough. During his premiership, Khan firmly rejected the notion of normalising ties, especially following Israel’s agreement with the UAE in 2020.
