Recently, a legal notice has been served to Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan, the patron-in-chief and president of the newly formed “Istehkam-e-Pakistan”, respectively. The notice has been issued by Ahmed Kaleem, accusing them of unlawfully adopting the name of his party.
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Tehreek vs Istehkam-e-Pakistan
As per the legal notice, the party in question, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Tehreek, was officially registered on May 17, 2022. Kaleem contends that Tareen’s party has deliberately appropriated the name of his pre-existing party. He further states that it is a direct violation of the Election Act 2017.
The legal notice aims to bring attention to this alleged infringement and seeks appropriate action to rectify the matter. Kaleem asserts his rights as the rightful owner of the party’s name and urges Tareen to desist from using it further.
The issuance of the legal notice highlights the seriousness of the situation and serves as a reminder of the importance of intellectual property rights within the political landscape. The parties involved now await a response, which will determine the course of action needed to resolve the dispute.
