In a bid to alleviate the burden of rising food costs and ensure food security for the masses, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has taken a great step by acquiring 48 shops on rent across Karachi. These shops will play a crucial role in the implementation of the ambitious ‘Rs2 Roti’ scheme, aimed at providing affordable and nutritious roti (flatbread) to the people of the metropolis.

A commendable initiative

Earlier, Governor Kamran Tessori had announced the establishment of 300 tandoors (traditional clay ovens) throughout Karachi. These tandoors will serve as the focal points for the distribution of the low-cost roti, priced at an incredibly affordable rate of just Rs2.

With the rented shops serving as the perfect venues to house these tandoors, the scheme is expected to cater to the needs of numerous Karachiites who have been facing financial constraints due to economic challenges.
