Karachi Business Community Launches New Airline, Air Karachi

The business community in Karachi has announced plans to launch a new airline called Air Karachi. Businessman Hanif Gohar revealed that the airline has been officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), and they have submitted an application for a license to the federal government.

Air Karachi is starting its operations with three leased aircraft. The airline has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, who was formerly with the Southern Command, as its CEO. This project involves an investment of Rs 5 billion and has been funded by contributions of Rs 50 million from each shareholder.

Interest in operating in Pakistan is on the rise among new airlines. Companies like Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air have submitted applications for licenses, and Air Indus is looking to resume its operations.

Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) emphasize the positive effects of these initiatives. They include better travel options, an increase in foreign exchange, and job creation in the aviation sector.

At present, there are four airlines operating in Pakistan: Airblue, SereneAir, AirSial, and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The introduction of new carriers is anticipated to boost competition and improve service quality.
