Final-year students from the University of Karachi’s Pharmacy Department have created the world’s smallest rechargeable nebulizer, offering portable respiratory therapy for people with breathing problems. The device, just under an inch wide, can run for up to 35 minutes on a single charge, lasting two days before needing another.
Made from eco-friendly bioplastics, the nebulizer is compact, silent, and rechargeable via micro-USB and USB-C, making it ideal for use in offices or during travel. Team leader Abdul Rahman highlighted the high cost and bulkiness of traditional nebulizers, priced between Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000, whereas this innovative device costs under Rs 2,000.

The students aim to make respiratory therapy more affordable and accessible, especially for children and the elderly suffering from asthma and chest infections. Their eco-friendly device presents a game-changing solution for those in need of discreet, on-the-go respiratory support.
