Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, has hinted at a potential military trial for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In an interview on a private news channel, Asif stated that the PTI leader must apologize to the nation for the violent events of May 9 or risk facing severe consequences, including a trial by a military court. He emphasized that the current circumstances are not favorable for any negotiation unless PTI takes responsibility for its actions.

Asif pointed out that during the PTI’s time in power, 24 civilian cases were tried in military courts, with several resulting in death sentences. He stressed that if the PTI founder is to face trial, it would be conducted openly to reveal what he called “the PTI’s negative plans” against the country’s security institutions.

He also highlighted the continued relationship between the PTI founder and the former ISI chief, Faiz Hameed, even after the May 9 incidents, suggesting a shared agenda between the two.

Asif insisted that a transparent trial is necessary to expose the intentions of the PTI leader and inform the public about threats to national security.
