Madinah, the holy city in Saudi Arabia, has been recognized as one of the world’s top 100 city destinations for 2024 by Euromonitor International’s index. The city is ranked 88th globally, first among Saudi cities, fifth in the Gulf region, sixth in the Arab world, and seventh in the Middle East.
This recognition highlights the significant growth in Madinah’s tourism sector, which welcomed 14.1 million visitors in 2023, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Enhanced facilities and services provided by local authorities have been instrumental in attracting international travelers.
Euromonitor’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2024 evaluates cities based on 55 metrics across six key pillars:
- Economic and Business Performance
- Tourism Performance
- Tourism Infrastructure
- Tourism Policy and Attractiveness
- Health and Safety
- Sustainability
The ranking reflects Madinah’s growing appeal to global tourists and its potential as a key destination.
