CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Shares Iftar With Female Inmates In Kot Lakhpat Jail

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz broke her fast with prisoners at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore and extended her support to the inmates by distributing gifts, clothes and monetary assistance worth Rs.15,000. She also toured Pakistan’s first-ever video call facility for prisoners at Lahore’s Central Jail and inspected the quality of food prepared for inmates.

After iftar, Maryam Nawaz inaugurated a 20-bed hospital at Kot Lakhpat Jail for the rehabilitation of drug addicts. During her visit, she also planted a tree in the garden on the occasion and met with prison officials and inmates.


The Punjab CM got emotional while visiting the cell where she and her father, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif were imprisoned. Furthermore, she also served food to the prisoners while sitting among them during the Iftar feast.

The Iftar menu, which included Biryani, samosas, pakoras, fruits, and other savories was prepared on Maryam Nawaz’s directives. Her visit to the prison was well-received by the prisoners and they appreciated her efforts to improve their living conditions and provide them with better healthcare facilities.
