Pakistani Mountaineer Samina Baig Faces Critical Health Situation During K2 Expedition

In recent news, Samina Baig, Pakistan’s pioneering female mountaineer, is currently leading a Pakistani-Italian joint female expedition team on K2. Unfortunately, during her recent pre-expedition acclimatization process, she fell seriously ill, developing severe breathing problems.

Despite completing all necessary requirements for evacuation, Askari Aviation, the sole service provider in Pakistan, was unable to carry out rescue operations due to weather conditions, leaving the team waiting for three days.

As Samina’s condition deteriorated, her representatives and doctor expressed grave concerns, prompting the team to take immediate action. They decided to evacuate her with human assistance and a horse. The team is now making a strenuous journey to reach Askoli village, expected to take two days of continuous travel.
