Pakistan observed Yaum-e-Taqaddus-e-Quran (Quran Sanctity Day) on Friday, following a nationwide protest called for by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden last month.

Cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta became the epicenters of gatherings, where protesters demanded global attention to the incident and emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to prevent such acts in the future.
The protest gained momentum as lawyers joined in, staging a demonstration outside the Supreme Court.

The prime minister’s call for action was prompted by an incident in Stockholm, where an individual defiled the Holy Quran. This act drew strong condemnation from numerous Muslim countries, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the European Union, Pope Francis, and the Swedish government.
