Almost 200 alumni, staff members, and current students from Oxford University have submitted a petition to the Chancellor’s Selection Committee, urging the inclusion of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the upcoming election for the chancellor position. The university confirmed to Geo News that it received the petition, which has garnered 176 signatures.

The petition, organized by Zulfi Bukhari, Khan’s adviser on international affairs, highlights Khan’s qualifications and asserts that he is fit to serve as chancellor. Supporters emphasized his dedication to public service and leadership, noting that his achievements align with the values of Oxford.

This support comes in response to a recent campaign by Khurram Butt, chairman of the Youth Coordination Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) UK, who distributed leaflets asserting that Khan is “unfit” for the role. The election is set to take place later this month, and the outcome remains highly anticipated.
