French and Dutch authorities conducted raids at Netflix offices in Paris and Amsterdam on Tuesday as part of an ongoing tax fraud investigation, according to a judicial source. The probe, which began in November 2022, focuses on suspicions that Netflix may have concealed tax liabilities and engaged in off-the-books operations in France and the Netherlands.

Specialist financial investigators searched multiple locations in France, while officials targeted Netflix’s Amsterdam headquarters, which oversees operations for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. French and Dutch authorities, with support from the EU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), have been coordinating this investigation for several months.

Netflix’s tax filings from 2019 to 2021 are under scrutiny following reports that the company structured its French operations to minimize tax payments by routing subscribers through a Dutch subsidiary. French media outlet La Lettre A reported that this setup enabled Netflix to pay less than one million euros in French taxes from 2019 to 2020 despite having seven million subscribers in France.

Authorities aim to determine whether Netflix continued strategies to lower its tax obligations. Netflix maintains that it complies with tax laws in all countries it operates in.
