A judicial magistrate in Gujranwala issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on Tuesday for Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Political Affairs. The warrant pertains to a case registered in 2020, accusing Sanaullah of allegedly attempting to run over police personnel and removing a container during a political rally.

Judicial Magistrate Sidrah Gill Nawaz, presiding over the hearing at the Satellite Town police station, ordered Sanaullah’s arrest and instructed authorities to present him before the court on December 12.

The case stems from an incident linked to a Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally on October 16, 2020. The first information report (FIR) includes several provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), namely Sections 149, 147, 186, 353, and 324.

While other accused in the case, including PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir, have been acquitted, Sanaullah’s case remains unresolved due to delays in the submission of the police challan. The court had previously rejected a police report and summoned Sanaullah multiple times, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant after his repeated absences.

The development adds to the legal challenges faced by the prominent PML-N figure as authorities proceed with enforcement actions.
