Pakistan To Launch 10,000 E-Rozgaar Centers To Boost IT Exports, Freelancing Industry

Pakistan’s first E-Rozgaar center was inaugurated in Islamabad by the country’s caretaker, Information Technology (IT) Minister Umar Saif. The center has around 100 workstations that are fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for freelancers with plans to expand to 300 workstations in the future. 

A positive step toward Pakistan’s IT sector

The establishment of this center marks the beginning of the project to set up 10,000 e-rozgaar centers across the country. The current facilities including high-speed internet, UPS, training centers, individual cabins, meeting rooms, and separate office rooms for start-ups have been provided to freelancers.

With the completion of this great project, IT exports from Pakistan are expected to increase by $10 billion annually. Under public-private partnerships, these centers could also significantly increase freelancers’ capacity and income.

Dr. Umar Saif expressed optimism and stated that the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) would be responsible for providing freelancers with the required technical support for these centers.He added that e-rozgaar centers in other cities were also nearing completion.

The IT minister highlighted that the government had taken all the required steps for the digital ecosystem in Pakistan and had used all available forums to declare Pakistan as a “Technology Destination” internationally.

This project will also help in promoting Pakistan’s digital economy and position the country as a technology hub. It is a positive step toward the development of the country’s IT sector. It will also help create a conducive environment for the upcoming government to continue promoting Pakistan’s digital economy.
